On Sunday 23 August, the lawns of Canford School once again became home to one of the South Coast’s largest and most diverse celebrations of motoring as Canford Classic & Supercar Sunday 2026 brought together an extraordinary collection of cars, owners, enthusiasts and partners for the fifth edition of the event.
From pre-war classics and cars remembered from childhood driveways to rally legends, competition machinery, modern supercars and some of the latest hypercars in the world, this year’s display represented almost every corner of automotive culture.
For Aperta Events, however, the biggest achievement was not simply the number of cars on the lawns. It was the quality of the 2026 field.
Around 750 carefully selected display vehicles filled Canford’s grounds, creating what we believe was the strongest collection assembled in the event’s five-year history. Rare classics sat alongside modern icons. Motorsport machinery shared the lawns with collector-grade supercars. Cars worth millions stood only metres from humble favourites that attracted just as much conversation because of the memories attached to them.
That contrast has always been at the heart of Canford.
The Franses Sunken Lawn Raises the Standard Again
At the centre of the event was the Franses Sunken Lawn, presented by Franses Jewellers of Bournemouth.
The hand-picked centrepiece of Canford once again brought together some of the most significant machinery at the event, giving visitors the opportunity to experience genuinely exceptional cars in the setting and space they deserve.
For us, the Franses Sunken Lawn represents what Canford is becoming. It is not about filling every available space. It is about curation, provenance, presentation and bringing together cars that make people stop in their tracks.
Surrounding it, the wider Classic, Supercar and specialist display areas ensured the event remained true to its original purpose: celebrating everything automotive, regardless of era.
A New Chapter: The Inaugural Canford Parade
2026 also marked the successful introduction of the first Canford Parade Lap.
For the first time, selected vehicles left their displays to take part in a moving procession through the event, giving visitors a chance to see and hear some of the machinery in motion.
The inaugural parade added an entirely new dimension to the day and, following its successful debut, gives Aperta another feature to develop as Canford enters its next chapter.
Three Rev-Offs and a First for the Classics
Sound has always been part of the theatre of Canford, and the three Rev-Off competitions once again drew huge crowds throughout the day.
This year also saw the introduction of something new: a third Rev-Off exclusively for classic cars.
It gave the older machinery its own moment in the spotlight, proving that drama is certainly not reserved for the latest supercars. From distinctive period engines to cars rarely heard at full voice, the classic Rev-Off quickly became one of the most memorable additions to the 2026 programme.
Combined with two further Rev-Off competitions featuring modern performance machinery, the three sessions provided some of the loudest moments of the day.
Five Years of Canford
The fifth event carries particular significance for Aperta Events founder and Canford organiser Zander Miller, who first started the event while still at school.
What began as an ambitious young enthusiast’s idea has developed, event by event, into a major fixture in the South Coast automotive calendar.
Zander said:
“I think this is the first year where I’ve been able to look across Canford and really appreciate how far it has come. Five years and five events later, seeing 750 cars of that quality filling the grounds and thousands of people enjoying something we have built is incredibly difficult to put into words.
“I’m proud of the numbers, but I’m far more proud of the standard of the event. The quality of the cars, the curation, the Franses Sunken Lawn, the parade, the Rev-Offs and the atmosphere all felt like another step forward.
“What means the most to me is seeing different generations enjoying completely different cars. A child can be staring at a hypercar they have only ever seen online while somebody beside them is reunited with the same model of classic they owned 40 years ago. That mix of nostalgia and aspiration is exactly what Canford should be.
“There are an enormous number of people behind an event like this, from our team and volunteers to Canford School, our partners, drivers and every person who bought a ticket. I’m incredibly grateful to all of them. Five shows in five years is a milestone I’m very proud of, but this feels much more like the beginning of the next chapter than the end of one.”
More Than a Car Show
Canford has never been intended to celebrate only the fastest, newest or most expensive cars.
The 2026 field demonstrated that more clearly than ever.
Across the grounds were classic cars, modern classics, supercars, hypercars, rally cars, track cars and competition machinery, spanning generations of engineering and design. Some represented childhood nostalgia. Others represented the cars on bedroom walls today.
That is what makes Canford different.
It is a showcase where a rare classic can attract a crowd every bit as large as a new hypercar, where owners are encouraged to share the stories behind their cars, and where visitors of every age can find something that makes them stop.
